Electrolytic degreasing is the first step in the electroplating process. Its purpose is to remove any remaining grease residues (e.g. fingerprints) from the workpiece before plating. This significantly improves the adhesion of the metal coating to be applied.

Chemicals: Degreasing salt  as a general guideline, dissolve 60–80 g of salt per litre in hot tap water. With frequent use, the bath should be renewed weekly. Otherwise, it is sufficient to replace the bath every 4–8 weeks.
